The Honda CB250R is a naked road sports model, new-generation of CB series, equipped with a high-performance liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder 249cc engine in a lightweight and compact body.
The CB250R is based on the development concept of SPORTS ROADSTER that turns everyday travel into fun. Equipped with a power unit with characteristics that can be enjoyed. Suspension pursues a high-quality riding feel.
The power unit is a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that pursues instantaneous power and acceleration from low to high revs. Through precise control of the fuel injection system, we have achieved linear output characteristics for throttle operation from a wide range of engine speeds.
The body adopts a newly designed steel frame composed of high-strength steel pipes and steel plates to optimize the rigidity of each part, while realizing lightweight body packaging and high dynamic performance.
The suspension employs an inverted front fork that pursues road-following performance, and a separate pressurized rear suspension unit that exhibits more stable damping force. And it contributes greatly to handling with a sense of lightness. In addition, the type setting CB250R [ABS (anti-lock brake system)] *1 has adopted ABS with IMU *2.
The styling is sharp and powerful with a sense of concentration common to the new-generation CB series. The tank shelter *3 with a strong presence has a classless style by sharing the basic motif with the molding of the top-end model CB1000R of the new generation CB series. In addition, high-brightness, highly visible LEDs are used for all lights, and a full digital liquid crystal meter is installed.
Three color variations are available: fearless “black,” high-quality and vivid “candy chromosphere red,” and high-quality metallic “matte krypton silver metallic.”

Main Features of Honda CB250R
Power unit that pursues full enjoyment in urban areas
Uses a water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine. Combined with a lightweight body, it achieves a top-class torque-to-weight ratio and a powerful acceleration feel in the low and medium speed range. In addition, by adopting an air cleaner shape that is long in the front and rear, the flow of intake air is straightened and intake resistance is reduced. A simple two-chamber structure inside the muffler keeps the exhaust resistance low and achieves a linear response to the rider’s throttle operation. In addition, this makes it a crisp exhaust sound peculiar to single-cylinder engines.
Car body that feels light and high-quality maneuverability
Adopts a newly designed frame made up of high-tensile steel pipes and steel plates with high rigidity and toughness. By adopting a new structure for the pivot plate, it has a configuration that makes it difficult for the rear wheel load to be input to the main frame. In addition, by optimizing the rigidity of the joint between the main pipe and head pipe, which affects the torsional rigidity of the frame, we have achieved stable handling. Furthermore, by setting the steering angle of the steering wheel to 40° on each side, a minimum turning radius of 2.3m was achieved, improving the maneuverability of the vehicle body.
High-quality ride and undercarriage reminiscent of a large motorcycle
Front Suspension
Inverted front forks with a large diameter of Φ41mm are used to reduce the unsprung weight of the front wheels and improve road-following performance. In order to ensure the rigidity balance with the newly designed frame, the front suspension system was also specially designed, and combined with the lightweight aluminum wheels and radial tires, which are the common designs of the new generation CB series.
Rear Suspension
A separate pressurized rear suspension unit is used to prevent mixing of oil and gas in the damper chamber. Since this structure prevents air entrapment, it is possible to give flexibility to the mounting angle of the vehicle body, contributing to the improvement of maneuverability due to the concentration of mass. In addition, by abolishing the cylinder inside the tube and increasing the diameter of the piston valve, we have improved responsiveness and reduced weight. In addition, a 7-stage preload adjuster has been adopted to accommodate rider preferences and load changes during tandem riding.
Swingarm
The newly designed swing arm is made of high-strength steel that is lightweight, highly rigid, and flexible to improve road-following performance.
In addition, although it is a gull arm shape that can secure clearance with the muffler, it has an asymmetrical shape, but by combining the optimum plate thickness for each, we have secured the left and right rigidity balance.

2019 Model Honda CB250R – with Higher Ground Clearance
Honda CB250R (2BK-MC52) picture. Model year 2019-04-19. Color: Matte Pearl Agile Blue. |
Honda CB250R has undergone changes to the front and rear suspensions to improve foot grounding. Furthermore, as a new color variation, “Matte Pearl Agile Blue” with a chic image was added, and it was released on April 19 (Friday) 2019 with ABS as standard equipment.
This time, the front suspension spring and rear suspension have been changed, and the shape of the main step bar has been revised to improve foot grounding. In addition, ABS with an IMU (body position estimation system) that effectively suppresses rear wheel lift during sudden braking is standard equipment.
For the coloring, a chic yet lustrous matte pearl agile blue has been newly adopted. Four colors are available, including high-quality vivid candy chromosphere red, fearless black, and metallic matte krypton silver metallic. In addition, matte pearl agile blue and candy chromosphere red have matte black shrouds, headlight rims, and front fenders, and brown front and rear wheels. In addition, the front fork outer is bronze color for all colors.
As a new-generation CB series, the CB250R is ideal for entry-level users of the young generation, thanks to its dynamic trapezoidal proportions with a sense of concentration, a power unit that produces high-quality driving, and a chassis that provides comfortable riding.

- * ABS is a system that assists the rider’s brake operation. As with vehicles not equipped with ABS, sufficient deceleration is required before corners, etc., and it is not possible to handle unreasonable driving. When the ABS is activated, the system is notified by kickback (swing back).
- * The IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) detects the angular velocity and acceleration of the vehicle body and uses it as data to estimate the vehicle attitude. Body posture is estimated by Honda’s original algorithm. Effectively suppresses rear wheel lifting during sudden braking
- * Exterior parts made of resin that cover the fuel tank
- * The fuel consumption rate is the value under specified test conditions. Varies depending on various conditions such as the customer’s usage environment (weather, traffic jams, etc.), driving method, vehicle condition (equipment, specifications), and maintenance status
- * Steady-state fuel efficiency values are fuel consumption rates based on actual measurements while driving at a constant vehicle speed
- * WMTC mode values are calculated values based on emissions test results measured in international standard driving modes including starting, accelerating, and stopping. Driving mode classes are classified by displacement and maximum speed
