2013-2022 Concept Cruiser Models Honda CTX700N (EBL-RC68) & CTX700/DCT (EBL-RC69) Specs, Photos, Features
Honda CTX700N vs Honda CTX700. Different front body design. |
The Honda CTX700N is a cruiser model released in July 11, 2013. In August 6th of the same year, the CTX700 with a cowl appeared, forming the CTX700 series with two models with the development concept of “comfortable technology experience”. The installed 669cc water-cooled parallel 2-cylinder OHC engine and main frame are shared with the “New Mid Concept Series” (NC700X/NC700S/Integra) announced in 2012, and the CTX700/N is also the NC700 series. I could think of myself as a member. However, due to changes in the ECU (Engine Control Unit) settings, etc., the engine has become a cruiser-like specification that emphasizes torque characteristics in the low and medium speed range. It had a low seat height. Two types of transmission were available: a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT), which is a stepped automatic transmission. This is the same for the CTX700 with a cowl, which is also equipped with ABS as standard, and LEDs are used for the tail lamps. In addition, there was no model change after the appearance. [Postscript] With the partial revision of the Road Traffic Law Enforcement Ordinance that came into force on December 1, 2019, the conventional limitation of “total displacement of 0.650 liters or less” was abolished for AT limited large motorcycle licenses. It has become possible to drive a vehicle that does not require clutch operation. Therefore, models equipped with DCT (dual clutch transmission) can now be driven with an AT limited license.

This new concept cruiser model, the CTX series, is designed with the desire to have more people ride “easily, comfortably, and exhilaratingly”. We are pursuing technology to achieve superior comfort.
For styling, both models adopt a powerful “horizontal tone design”. Based on the key words of “generous and powerful surface structure” and “functionally independent parts structure”, everything from the frame structure to the seat and muffler has horizontal proportions that fuse functional beauty.
By adopting a newly designed rear subframe, the body has excellent grounding and a low seat height of 720mm that provides a sense of security. In addition, the riding position is set with a high degree of freedom so that riders of various physiques can get used to it, and you can enjoy comfortable riding in a wide range of applications, from city driving to long-distance touring.
Equipped with a water-cooled, in-line 2-cylinder 700cc engine that combines the power of the low- and medium-rpm range that is commonly used with excellent fuel efficiency of 38.0km/L (60km/h level driving test value). A pleasant heartbeat that suppresses unpleasant vibrations enhances the enjoyment and comfort of riding. Both models are available with either a manual transmission type or a dual clutch transmission (DCT) type with improved control programs to meet the preferences of a wide range of users.

Main Features of the CTX Series

Design
The powerful horizontal design of the CTX series has a relaxed and powerful image suitable for a new cruiser model. In addition, the front massive form that gives a sense of solidity to the front makes it full of fearlessness. The under cowl has a functional design that further emphasizes the low center of gravity form while matching the shape around the engine.
The CTX700N uses V-shaped multi-reflector headlights. The cowl that holds the headlights and the meter visor create a unique front face.
The Honda CTX700 is equipped with a large dynamic cowl. In addition to providing wind protection to the rider while riding, it has a unique and stylish form. The Honda CTX700N comes in two colors, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Fadeless White, while the CTX700 comes in Candy Alizarin Red and Pearl Fadeless White.
Body/Suspension
Although the main frame is shared with the Numid Concept series, the adoption of a newly designed rear subframe realizes the low, horizontal form that is characteristic of the CTX series. By reducing the seat height to 720mm, we have achieved a sense of security and ease of handling. The suspension uses a telescopic type with an inner tube diameter of 41mm at the front and a pro-link at the rear for excellent road-following performance.
The fuel tank shelter has a space for storing small items, and is designed with usability in mind.
Honda CTX700/N Engine
Equipped with a popular water-cooled, 4-stroke, OHC, in-line 2-cylinder 700cc model in the New Mid Concept series.
Aiming for a more comfortable cruising experience, the specifications of the intake duct for the air cleaner have been changed, the tail pipe diameter of the muffler has been increased, and the ECU settings have been changed to achieve more torqueful characteristics at low and medium speeds. increase. Both models have two types of transmissions: a 6-speed manual transmission and a dual-clutch transmission, a stepped automatic transmission originally developed by Honda for motorcycles. The DCT used in the CTX series has a dedicated setting for the shift timing in AT mode so that you can get a more crisp feeling of the engine’s beating. In addition, by adopting a wide range of low-friction technologies, we have achieved a longer cruising range with excellent fuel efficiency of 38.0km/L (60km/h level driving test value).
