Honda TLM50 model year 1983 is a lightweight and slim entry-level trial motorcycle equipped with an air-cooled 2-stroke 49cc engine.
Released in December 20th 1983, the TLM50 was the first 50cc trial model since the Bials TL50. However, while the Bials TL50 was a 4-stroke engine, the TLM50 was equipped with an air-cooled 2-stroke engine. Although it was a 2-stroke trial machine, it was equipped with a device (HERP) that pushed the air-fuel mixture back into the combustion chamber to increase the charging efficiency. In addition, although it was an introductory model, the rear suspension adopted a mechanism that could adjust the shock absorption performance in five stages according to the situation. Equipped with a 5-speed transmission and a plastic skid plate at the bottom of the engine. Despite its slim body, the fuel tank capacity is 4 liters. 30km/h constant driving fuel consumption is 60km per liter.
This Honda TLM50 was developed as a sports bike that can be enjoyed in a wide range of ways, from full-scale trials to touring. The engine is equipped with a new 2-cycle 49cc engine with * HERP that exhibits tenacious output characteristics even at low speeds. The rear suspension adopts a mechanism that allows the shock absorption performance to be adjusted in 5 stages according to the purpose of use.
In addition, the body adopts a lightweight, highly rigid, slim semi-double cradle type. Furthermore, the steering wheel turning angle is set at 62 degrees to the left and right from the center, and combined with a minimum ground clearance of 305 mm and large-diameter wheels (front 2.50-21, rear 3.50-18), it is a full-fledged car even in the 50cc class. It is a bike that can be used for trials.
*HERP, an abbreviation of Honda Energy Resonance Pipe, is a device that pushes the air-fuel mixture back into the cylinder and promotes charging efficiency into the combustion chamber even at low speeds.
