The CL50 in the 1990s reappeared in response to the retro style boom, gaining popularity mainly among young women. Combination of Super Cub type 49cc air-cooled 4-stroke single cylinder engine, rotary type 4-speed transmission, front and rear 17-inch wheels, and mechanical drum brakes (leading and trailing). In 1999, it underwent a minor change, adopting a puncture-resistant tough up tube, which was also used in the Super Cub.
