The Honda CB650R is a middle class model of the Neo Sports Cafe CB series newly released in March 2019. It first appeared at the Milan Show (EICMA) in November 2018, but the model exhibited as the Neo Sports Cafe Concept at the Paris Show the previous month was on the underlay. The Honda CB650R equipped with a 4-cylinder engine features a flowing exhaust pipe reminiscent of the CB400 Fore released in 1974. Even with the same 4-cylinder, it was a point only for the CB650R, which was not seen in the Honda CB1000R.

* 1. The fuel consumption rate is the value under the specified test conditions. It depends on various conditions such as the customer’s usage environment (weather, traffic jam, etc.), driving method, vehicle condition (equipment, specifications) and maintenance condition.
* 2. The constant fuel consumption value is the fuel consumption rate based on the actual measurement of driving at a constant vehicle speed.
* 3. The WMTC mode value is a calculated value based on the exhaust gas test results measured in the driving mode, which is an international standard including starting, accelerating, and stopping. Driving mode classes are categorized by displacement and top speed.
Following the specification change in January 2021, Showa’s big piston (SSF-BP) was adopted for the front inverted fork. In addition, the steering angle of the steering wheel has been increased to make it easier to turn. From here, there is a USB type C charging socket under the seat. The current color lineup is red, deep blue, and black. Blue and black are matte. * Information as of October 2021.
Honda CB650 Review
The 648cm3 water-cooled DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine has smooth torque characteristics during peak rotation, and improves the response around 3,000 to 8,000rpm from the fully closed throttle, achieving both ease of handling in urban areas and sharp driving in winding. Furthermore, the feeling of rising from around 7,000 rpm, which is unique to an in-line 4-cylinder engine, is an output characteristic that allows you to fully enjoy the excitement and fulfillment of a sports bike.
Power feel unique to straight-four
An air cleaner that contributes to acquisition.
The downdraft intake layout suitable for high-speed engines is inherited from the conventional model. The air cleaner element is laid down 20 ° more than before, and the structure is such that the intake air flows more smoothly to the funnel side. At the same time, by optimizing the shape of the air cleaner, the punching metal of the element guard has been abolished, and the opening area has been expanded by about 1.7 times. It contributes to the acquisition of the power feel unique to the straight-four that blows up to the high rpm range without stress.
Contributes to a sharp rise
Shroud integrated chamber.
The intake system uses a twin intake duct that efficiently takes in fresh air from the shroud-integrated chamber *. From the front ends of the shroud-integrated chamber located on the left and right sides of the front of the fuel tank, the air pressure inside the chamber is raised by a structure that stably guides air, and the tips of the left and right intake ducts that feed into the air cleaner are made into two pieces. Furthermore, we pursued intake efficiency by constructing a structure that takes in air from the rear as well as the front. It greatly contributes to the sharp rise.
A feeling of rushing up,
A muffler that realizes an exciting sound.
The muffler contributes to a feeling of bubbling up, and the rear end of the tail pipe is angled so that the rider can enjoy the exhaust sound more. Combined with the characteristics of the power unit, you can enjoy the exciting driving and sound unique to the straight-four while maintaining the muffling performance.
clutch
For a more comfortable and smooth ride.
Assist & Slipper® Clutch * that contributes to rider fatigue reduction and a sense of security. The assist mechanism reduces the clutch lever operating load, and the slipper mechanism that reduces rear wheel hopping due to sudden engine braking caused by downshifting contributes to ease of handling and provides a more comfortable and smooth ride. offer.
Brings a sense of security and comfort to the ride
Honda Selectable Torque Control.
Honda Selectable Torque Control is used to provide a secure ride by controlling the driving force of the rear tires. Based on the value calculated from the speed difference between the front and rear wheels, the driving force of the rear tires is controlled by optimizing the engine torque by adjusting the fuel injection amount to alleviate the rear wheel slip. The rider can arbitrarily select ON / OFF of the setting with the torque control (TC) switch on the left handle.

Compact & dynamic
Pursued styling.
In pursuit of universal appeal as a sports bike that is not influenced by fashion while having advancedness, it is equipped with round LED headlights and has a trapezoidal proportion that aims to centralize the mass. The fuel tank is equipped with an intake chamber integrated with a shroud with a mechanical impression, giving it a powerful and condensed feel. Equipped with LED tail lamps, the rear area is composed of crisp ridges and supple curved surfaces, and the seat cowl and rear fenders are designed with more edges to give a sharp and sporty impression. It stands out.

Around the front that pursues a fearless and condensed feeling.
LED headlights with a black finish on the bezel and Honda logo plate to create a fearless image. The key cylinder position is located on the center side of the car body, and the parts around the steering wheel are centralized, which greatly contributes to the body silhouette that is full of condensation that is common to the NEO SPORTS CAFÉ CB series.

Around the rear in pursuit of mass concentration.
Pursuing mass concentration by making it a short tail. It also visually impresses the dynamic dynamic performance. In addition, LED tail lamps are used. The lens has a flute (groove) cut that amplifies the light emitting area in the vertical direction and a grain processing that surrounds the lower side, realizing a compact yet rich expression of light. Furthermore, when braking, the built-in stop lamp lights up to give consideration to sharp visibility.

A meter that pursues thinness and weight reduction as well as visibility.
The meter has a full flat design that maximizes the liquid crystal size by covering the display surface with transparent acrylic up to the edge. A gear position indicator, a water temperature gauge, a peak hold display of the engine speed, and a shift-up indicator linked to the engine speed to inform the shift timing are adopted. In addition, the font size has been increased and the irradiation angle of the backlight has been reviewed to improve visibility in various situations.
Emergency stop signal.
Adopted an emergency stop signal that promptly informs the following vehicle of sudden braking by blinking the hazard lamp at high speed.
