Honda adopted the advanced technology cultivated in the world’s highest peak motorcycle road race “MotoGP”, and remodeled the big super sports model “CBR1000RR” equipped with Lightweight, compact, and tenacious water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder 1000cc engine in February It will be on sale from Saturday, 25th.
The coloring of the super sports bike “CBR1000RR” has been changed, and a special color of the tricolor image has been newly adopted. The “CBR1000RR Special” will be on sale from November 17th (Friday) with limited orders.
The First CBR1000RR was released in April 2004 as a model that inherited the CBR900RR series that was launched in Europe and the United States in 1992. Adopting the advanced technology of Honda’s MotoGP machine “RC211V” such as HESD (Honda Electronic Steering Damper) and Unit Prolink Suspension, it has been well received as a model that can be applied to a wide range of applications from touring to racing scenes.

2006 CBR1000RR styling
The design of this model has been redesigned from the front to the rear end with the styling concept of “tight aggressive clear cut”. While inheriting the overall styling concept, the cowl shape has been changed to a sharp and wild design. As a result, the cowl surface area has been reduced by approximately 13% compared to the conventional model, and weight reduction has also been achieved. As a result, maintainability is improved and light handling performance is realized. In addition, by setting a large air outlet in the lower cowl, the heat of the engine is rectified backwards, improving the rider’s comfort.
2006 Honda CBR1000RR Engine
The CBR1000RR is equipped with a water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder 998cm3 engine that is lightweight and compact, yet has both excellent power characteristics and control characteristics in the entire range.
This time, while inheriting the basic specifications of the engine, the details have been changed with the main themes of “improving power performance” and “lightening”.
The shape of the intake port of the cylinder head has been straightened, and the size of the exhaust port has been expanded. The valve shape has been changed and the valve timing has been reviewed, and finer materials have been adopted for the sand grains used in the intake port casting stage (core molding). Through these changes, intake and exhaust efficiency has been improved, and torque has been improved in the mid- and low-speed range, which is frequently used.
The volume of the combustion chamber has also been reduced by 2.7%, and the compression ratio has been increased from “11.9: 1” to “12.2: 1” to improve combustion efficiency.
In addition, the weight has been reduced in the details of the engine, such as the ECU (electronic control unit) that controls the material change of the camshaft and fuel injection, and the shift change drum. In addition, the center-up exhaust system and radiator have also been reduced in weight to achieve light maneuverability.
By changing the shape and size of the cylinder head and changing the shape of the valve and combustion chamber, the combustion and intake / exhaust efficiency are reviewed, and the medium / low speed torque is improved.
The caster angle and trail amount have been changed for the purpose of achieving light maneuverability in the vehicle body as well. By reviewing the bolts that fix the engine, we have achieved more agile and responsive maneuverability.
In addition, the diameter of the front brake disc has been increased and made thinner, and the rear brake caliper has been made smaller and lighter, achieving both weight reduction and stable braking performance.
2006 Honda CBR1000RR Body
The size of the motorcycle body, including the frame, was not changed significantly, and changes were made with the aim of realizing a car body that can fully demonstrate mass concentration and engine output.
Due to the change in the position of the head pipe of the frame body, the caster angle was changed from 23 ° 45’of the conventional model to 23 ° 25′, and the trail amount was reduced by 2 mm from 102 mm to 100 mm. In addition, the specifications of the bolts that fix the engine have been reviewed to achieve more agile and responsive handling. As for the brakes, the rotor diameter of the front disc brake has been increased from 310mm to 320mm, while the thickness has been reduced from 5.0mm to 4.5mm. By adopting a new compact and lightweight caliper for the rear brake, both improved braking performance and lighter weight are achieved. In addition, the design of the instrument panel has been changed to improve visibility, making it easier to use.
