On October 1, 1982, Honda Motor Co. released the Honda Super Sports CBX550F Integra, a large sports bike that is equipped with a newly designed DOHC, 16-valve, in-line 4-cylinder engine (total displacement of 572cm3), equipped with fairing as standard equipment for agile driving.
This CBX550F Integra is equipped with a powerful engine with a maximum output of 60PS/10,000rpm with flat torque characteristics in a lightweight and compact body comparable to the 400cc class. In addition, the brake torque response type anti-dip mechanism (TRAC) that controls the sinking of the front fork when braking, triple (front wheel double, rear wheel single) inboard ventilated disc brake, pro link rear suspension, etc. Equipped with functions and demonstrating sharp running, at the same time, it achieves excellent fuel economy of 40Km/L (60Km/h level driving test value).
The fairing was designed using the know-how acquired from Honda’s road racing activities, and adopts an up-type screen with the upper end of the screen upright, which is generated from wind pressure during long-distance touring and high-speed driving. It reduces rider fatigue and enables a comfortable ride.
As a result, Honda sports bikes equipped with fairings as standard have been enhanced with three models, including the CB750F Integra and the supersport CBX400F Integra.
