Who is CLC (씨엘씨)?
CLC (CrystaL Clear; 씨엘씨) was a seven-member K-pop girl group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2015. Known for their versatile concepts and strong performances, they gained international recognition with hits like Hobgoblin, Black Dress, and Helicopter.
History of CLC
CLC debuted on March 19, 2015, with their first mini-album First Love and the title track Pepe. Initially debuting as a five-member group, they gained attention for their fresh and youthful image. In 2016, two new members, Elkie and Eunbin, were added to the lineup, bringing the group to seven members.
Over the years, CLC explored various concepts, from the bright and innocent image of Pepe to the fierce and powerful Hobgoblin in 2017. The group continued to gain a strong international fanbase, especially with songs like Black Dress and No, which highlighted their unique sound and confident image.
Despite their growing popularity, CLC faced challenges with inconsistent promotions from their agency, Cube Entertainment. In 2020, they made a strong comeback with Helicopter, which became a global success. However, in 2021, member Elkie departed from the group, citing dissatisfaction with the company’s management. Yujin later appeared on Girls Planet 999 and successfully debuted in Kep1er.
On May 20, 2022, Cube Entertainment officially announced the disbandment of CLC, marking the end of their journey as a group. Despite this, the members have continued pursuing individual careers in music, acting, and entertainment.
