Pre-debut
Chaehyun became a trainee under SM Entertainment when she was in middle school and trained under the agency for 6 years and left the agency around 2019 – 2020.
2021 : Girls Planet 999
On July 7, Chaehyun was confirmed as one of the contestants on the survival show, Girls Planet 999, along with other trainees, through a prologue trailer. Her official profile was released on July 17. The show aired from August 6 to October 22. During the finale, Chaehyun ranked first and was named a member of the group Kep1er and the center.
2022 : Kep1er Debut, The Show
On January 3, 2022, Chaehyun officially debuted with Kep1er with their first mini album, First Impact.
On January 10, 2022, it was announced that Chaehyun would be the new MC for SBS MTV’s The Show, along with the departure of former MCs Jihan and Yohan.
