Early Life

Kim Yu-jin, better known by her stage name Uee (유이), was born on April 9, 1988, in Daejeon, South Korea. She is the daughter of Kim Sung-kap, a former professional baseball coach, and grew up in a sports-oriented family. Uee initially pursued swimming in her school years before turning to a career in entertainment. She studied at Sungkyunkwan University, majoring in Performing Arts.

Debut and Rise with After School

Uee gained national attention when she joined the girl group After School in April 2009, debuting with the popular single “Diva.” Her distinct visuals and stage presence quickly made her a fan favorite, and she was nicknamed “honey thighs” for her healthy image. Uee’s popularity helped boost After School’s fame both domestically and internationally.
