This OPPO Reno7 device is recognized as the sexiest, both in terms of color availability and camera features, we consider it the most suitable product to be used in the next 2 to 3 years.

Although it is rumored that this orange variant has sold out on the market, this variant is the one that looks the most different from the other OPPO Reno7 Series variants. Both when viewed and when held in the hand. When we have to rush out of the house, at least we can know that we are not bringing our little brother or sister’s phone just by feeling the back cover.

OPPO Reno7 Reviews

Design

In terms of shape, the OPPO Reno7 design is closer to the OPPO Reno7 Z 5G and OPPO Reno6 5G. Where the side of the phone forms a sharp angle, aka looks boxy. But still thin so it is not difficult to use with one hand.

Interestingly, Reno7 offers brightly colored product variants. Using fiberglass-leather material for the first time in OPPO products with a calm yet bright twilight orange color. This uniqueness is not present in the black variant, aka cosmic black.

However, whatever the color, this phone is still the Reno7 which brings a number of excellence in terms of design, AI photography and capable multimedia performance. There is still a 3.5 mm audio jack on this phone, so even though the speaker cone is still mono at the bottom, we can enjoy music and game audio with our favorite headset.

Focusing on the back cover, the product we are reviewing happens to be the dusk orange variant, so it provides a comfortable skin-like texture when it touches the palm of our hand. Tempting us not to use the silicon case that came with this phone.

Here, we also find the camera area at the top left corner. Consisting of 2 large circles on the left side and several small circles on the right side. If we pay attention, the margin or edge of the bottom large circle is also different from the edge camera circle above it. The large camera bezel below is an LED light, similar to what we found on the Reno7 Z 5G.

The function of this light, in addition to beautifying notifications through the breathing light menu, is also very crucial for one of its camera functions. Namely Micro-Photography.

Screen and Software

OPPO Reno7 carries an AMOLED screen with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. Has a span of 6.43 inches or relatively normal. Not too narrow or wide. With a high resolution, namely FHD + or in the range of 2400 x 1080 pixels with a density of 409 ppi.

Using a single punchole design, the screen covers almost all of the front surface of the phone. Around 90.8% of the front is a screen that actively displays images and actively receives responses from its users.

As usual, if the screen panel is AMOLED, the fingerprint sensor tends to be placed under the screen panel. So that aesthetically it can provide more space for OPPO to reduce the thickness of the phone and also eliminate fingerprint sensor shapes in other areas.

OPPO Reno7 also brings the latest ColorOS, namely ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12. Offers many built-in features that are applicable. Starting from a free video editor, to effective power management to keep the phone alive longer with a battery that is 10% left.

Including RAM expansion capabilities to increase virtual memory space and also AI Portrait effects provided in the camera section.

CPU, GPU and Memory

Different from other Reno7 Series variants, this Reno7 does not carry a 5G modem. For that, OPPO Reno7 equips it with the latest 4G chipset for the upper middle class, namely Snapdragon 680.

This chipset has been used by OPPO in other products, such as the OPPO A96. Carrying 6nm fabrication, which allows for much more efficient power usage. This chipset carries a CPU with 8 cores, consisting of 4 kryo 265 Gold cores (derivative of Cortex A73) with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz and 4 Kryo 265 Silver cores (derivative of Cortex A55) with a clock speed of 1.9 GHz. With the Adreno 610 GPU, which is a mid-high class GPU with proven performance.

For memory capacity, both RAM and ROM, OPPO only provides one option. Namely a combination of 8GB RAM of the LPDDR4x type and 256 GB ROM of the UFS2.2 type. A powerful combination for a content creator. And coupled with the RAM expansion feature, we can borrow the size of the ROM to be used as temporary RAM until it increases by 5G to a total of 13GB.

When tested using Antutu and GeekBench, a relatively good score was obtained. Namely in the range of 270 to 300 thousand for Antutu. Not a big value, considering the price offered. But also not a small value, considering that ColorOS 12.1 offers a neat ecosystem for running third-party software, including games and multitasking.

Camera

OPPO Reno7, this 4G variant is equipped with a main camera system with 3 lenses/cameras. It is unique because one of them is a lens or camera that is capable of producing microscopic photos, capable of magnifying up to 30 times from a very small object, and from a very close distance. Where the lens is almost attached to the object.

On the back there is a 64MP AI camera as the main camera. Has a large aperture of f/1.7 with a shooting angle of up to 79 degrees. Next there is a Micro camera or called Microlens, has a resolution of 2MP with an aperture of f/3.3 and a shooting angle of 65 degrees. This Micro lens can be easily recognized because it carries an LED ring light surrounding it.

Then still on the back, there is also a 2MP camera lens for mono needs. It has an f/2.4 aperture with a shooting angle of 89 degrees.

While on the front, we can find a selfie camera with support for a unique sensor, the IMX709. Carrying a resolution of 32MP AI, with an f/2.4 aperture and an 85-degree viewing angle.

The sensor developed by OPPO and Sony carries a number of technologies, including the RGBW (red-green-blue-white) sensor which is a development of the classic RGGB sensor so that it can capture 60% more light. While Quadra binning allows the results of a 16MP lens capture, for example, to be a solid image, without noise, clearer and brighter equivalent to the same value in a 64MP photo.

These two technologies are used very effectively for almost all camera usage scenarios. Until we think that this cellphone camera is not only good for selfies. In fact, the main camera and front camera are ready to be invited to hunt for night photos that are worthy of being shown off on your social media.

If you have been following the OPPO Reno product so far, of course you already understand what you will get in the camera software system. A number of AI functions, a combination of technology on the sensor and ColorOS software allow us to take photos that look professional.

Disclaimer, like the author, not everyone is good at photography. Both from choosing angles, objects to how to produce photos with optimal lighting. So the presence of the AI feature on the Reno7 camera and the ease of taking pictures offered will be a savior. Anyone can take good photos.

There is a Selfie HDR feature there, including Bokeh Flare Portrait, to portrait retouching, to tinker with the face so that it looks more radiant. For example, by removing acne or something that has made you insecure.

Battery

OPPO Reno7 4G is equipped with a 4500 mAh lithium-ion battery with SuperVOOC 33W fast charging technology. Paired with a power-efficient chipset such as Snapdragon 680, this cellphone battery can last a long time, at least you can feel safe when you have to be outdoors all day. And even if you are forced to charge the battery in the middle of the road. You can do it quickly, because with just 30 minutes of charging, the battery will be charged more than 50%.
