Entering early April 2022, realme introduced a product with an attractive price. A smartphone created for novice users, and for those who are sensitive to price. This smartphone, named realme C31, carries a thin and attractive design while maintaining performance so that it can still be fun.
If we flash back to several realme products in this class, previously realme presented a fairly thick smartphone. The design is good, but it is relatively thicker than products with higher prices. Now in this C31, realme seems to want to show that even a million smartphone can still look stylish.

realme C31 Pros & Cons
Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|
Realme UI R Edition makes the phone’s performance lighter, but with an attractive appearance | Still using a MicroUSB plug |
large capacity battery with long durability | Still using a bangs design |
Thin body for its class | |
CPU performance is quite capable in its class |
Thin Design with Dynamic Texture
The key to the appearance of the realme C31 which looks neat is the decision to place the three rear cameras slowly rising in a fairly large area. So that the other areas, about 83% of the rest, can be made thin and sloping. Only 8.4mm thick.
This back cover section is then given an attractive coloring, complete with a microscopic texture in the form of circular shading centered on the main camera area and spreading throughout the back cover of the realme C31. Like ripples of waves on the water behind a jet ski that is speeding.
The addition of this dynamic texture makes the back of the phone less slippery. Making it comfortable to hold, both when making calls, or doing other activities using this smartphone.
There are two color choices available, namely Light Silver like the one we are reviewing this time, there is also Dark Green. Both use the same design and texture approach.
The realme C31 smartphone also embeds a fingerprint sensor. Placed in the same area as the power button, which is on the right side of the phone. Showing a recessed part, where we can touch it gently. The response is fairly fast and is very suitable for those who use their phones with their right hands.
Screen and UI
With the price offered, the screen carried by the realme C31 can already be appreciated. Carrying an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels in a 6.52-inch span, all writing and images can be displayed clearly, densely and quite brightly. Interestingly, when this touchscreen is moved, the realme C31 screen looks responsive and does not show the lag that is usually present in smartphones at this price.
Different from several other entry smartphone products, the realme C31 does not carry a punch hole screen. The front camera is placed in a small bangs formation at the top of the screen, slightly below the earpiece.
Then what about the custom UI that is carried? If you remember an interesting product with the same price that came a year ago, the realme C21Y, more or less the UI is the same. Namely a modification of the realme UI for more entry-level devices, through a build called the realme UI R edition based on Android 11.
This decision is understandable, because this could be the reason why we don’t experience lag when browsing applications and/or when installing additional applications via the Google Play Store.
A number of built-in applications are present to make it easier for users to do their activities. One of them is the SoLoop video editor. Our favorite application when we have to edit videos in the middle of the road, with a number of conveniences offered.
Unisoc Tiger Chipset
For the million-dollar class, the chipset present in the realme C31 could be the right choice. The chipset made by Unisoc, the T612 Tiger carries the Cortex-A75 CPU core, which is still relatively new with promising performance.
Let’s see what the Unisoc T612 brings and its optimization in the realme C31. Ok, this chipset is a chipset with 12nm fabrication. Not the smallest but still reliable to provide process and power efficiency.
This chipset, as mentioned above, carries a CPU with 8 cores, aka octa Core. Where 4 of them are Cortex A75 cores, and the remaining 4 are Cortex A55 cores. Actually, it is a combination of the big.LITTLE cluster that is present in other ARM CPUs that are widely carried by chipsets from competitors.
It’s just that, for some reason, the CPU clock speed, both in the performance cluster and in efficiency, is set to only 1.82 GHz. So, its performance will really depend on the specifications of each core. Where on paper the A75 is indeed much better than the A55, so when performance is needed, the 4 A75 cores will actively help other cores that are working.
This chipset also carries the Mali-G57 GPU. It is the first generation of GPUs based on Valhall. Actually on paper it is capable of supporting quite high graphic displays, even supporting 4K. However, it seems that the efficiency side is again the main thing carried by this GPU, according to the targeted class.
In terms of memory, the realme C31 carries 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory in the form of UFS 2.2 memory. In terms of RAM, this is an advantage, considering that 4GB of RAM is the minimum requirement to get the convenience of multitasking, especially when there is a lot of work to be done using a smartphone lately.
For the size of the internal memory, if it is not big enough, we can still add a memory card. Because the realme C31 provides a memory card slot that is separate from the SIM slot.
Battery and Micro USB Charger
The realme C31 smartphone carries a large capacity battery of 5000 mAh. During our use for the review, its durability was felt. The phone can last several days on just one charge. Indicating that the power efficiency on this phone is running well.
In addition to the large capacity, power management on the realme UI is also an important point when we talk about efficiency. For example, the presence of Low Power Mode, when the battery is low and we are on a road that does not allow for charging.
However, there is something interesting about this cellphone’s recharging system, especially in the use of a MicroUSB cable as a means of delivering power and data. A solution that is rarely found in cellphones released in the last year. But it makes sense when you remember, a year ago the realme C21Y also used the same approach.
Tripe AI Camera
The C31 carries a combination of 3 cameras on the back. Equipped with AI, all three will be responsible for capturing spontaneous moments to be even more uhuy. More artistic and worthy of being shared on social media.
One main camera on the back has a resolution of 13MP. Using a Sony sensor, this camera has an f/2.2 aperture with a fairly wide viewing area. This camera is then accompanied by a 2MP camera for macro needs. Those who like macro photography, or are curious to capture images in macro mode, then this lens with an aperture of f / 2.4 will be the mainstay.
Then another one on the back is a 2MP camera for B & W needs. In line with realme’s spirit to revive street photography, the presence of this lens will enhance the retro side of our photos. Capable of presenting high exposure and clear contrast between dark and light in black and white photo reproduction.
Meanwhile, for the front camera, the realme C31 carries a 5MP camera lens with an aperture of f / 2.4. The results can be seen in the following photo examples.
Conclusion
A cellphone that has good performance and multitasking capabilities has become a must. The realme C31 smartphone provides this.
