OPPO A55 Reviews
Design
OPPO A55 comes with an attractive back cover design. You may have found it in other OPPO A series. It still looks simple, without a texture approach, but still with gradation (rainbow blue) and a grain of sand effect on the inside like the black star variant (Starry Black). The coloring of this back cover still carries the spirit of “OPPO Glow” which is anti-fingerprint and scratch, and does not feel too slippery.
IPX4 certification is also carried, which is a basic requirement in its class. Just a reminder, this certification refers to the resistance of the cellphone to water splashes. For example, when it rains or when water is spilled on the dining table.
If you look at it and compare it side by side, the OPPO A55 does look thicker than most OPPO cellphones on the market. Especially in 2022. However, a number of the latest technologies have been brought in to make users comfortable.
The shape of the edge of the cellphone that creates a 2.5D angle, for example, will make the cellphone comfortable when used with one finger. Does not block fingers when accessing the screen, while supporting the weight of the cellphone.
Including security technology using fingerprints. This cellphone still provides it, by placing the sensor under the power button. If you use your right hand to use your phone, then this will add to the comfort when using it.
Screen
On the front, the OPPO A55 displays a 6.51-inch screen. Carrying an LCD panel, with a brightness of between 480 to 550 nits depending on the lighting conditions of the room. There is not much to discuss on the screen side, other than of course it is capable of displaying the UI well, even for watching streaming shows, and also browsing social media.
The resolution emitted is in the HD+ category, which is 1600 x 720 pixels. This means that it is quite dense because when compared to the screen span, the pixel density displayed is at 269 ppi (pixels per inch). It doesn’t make the image broken, it’s safe.
And because the front camera is presented through a punch hole design in the upper left corner of the screen, the viewing area is wide. Providing about 89.2% of the screen area, when compared to the entire surface area of the front of this phone.
The screen of this phone has also been protected by NEG T2X-1 or Dynorex.
UI – ColorOS 11.1
OPPO A55 carries the ColorOS 11.1 custom software system based on Android 11. As we know, ColorOS 11.1 is already capable with all the power efficiency features, a clean, simple appearance and can be customized as you like.
Because it is still ColorOS 11.1, it is hoped that the acceleration can still be smooth even though it uses a chipset that is classified as mid to low. And another advantage is that we can still take advantage of a number of built-in features such as Game Space which is still maintained. Then there is Music Party which allows us to share music to other OPPO devices, creating a multi-speaker effect.
Hardware Performance
Getting into the brain of the phone, we will find a chipset made by Mediatek, namely the Helio G35. This chipset was first introduced as a promising chipset even for gaming purposes, because it is equipped with HyperEngine Technology.
This technology is predicted to be able to provide smooth performance, smooth like butter, power efficiency with low latency connections. But just for information, this chipset was first introduced in mid-2020. So it is quite fitting, if the ColorOS used is version 11.1.
This chipset carries a CPU with 8 Cortex A53 cores, with two allocations. Where 4 cores are set to have a speed of 2.3 GHz, while the other 4 cores are set to run at 1.8 GHz. Then this chipset also carries the PowerVR GE8320 GPU which of course we already understand its capabilities, by carrying 2 computer units in a frequency of 680 MHz which is capable of supporting graphic displays up to FHD +.
The synthetic benchmark results show fairly competitive numbers. However, one thing we can say is that over time, we may find some things related to system responsiveness. Especially in multitasking, when opening an application when many applications are already open, for example. So make sure to check open applications to keep it running smoothly.
Although the RAM carried by the OPPO A55 is already 4GB, the internal storage is only 64GB with some space that has been dedicated to system needs. It’s a good idea to save some images from third-party applications to an additional memory card, such as less funny videos from our family group or school alumni.
Battery
This is interesting. The OPPO A55 is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. Not the largest for a cellphone. However, whether it’s because of the efficiency of the software or hardware. Whether it’s on the display side or on the CPU/GPU side, what is certain is that this cellphone battery can last quite a long time. Exceeding expectations when used for photo hunting and social media.
Next, we can recharge the battery with a typical charger that can deliver 18W of power. It is enough to charge the battery when sleeping at night, and it is full when you wake up in the morning.
50MP AI Camera
This section seems to be an important point and even the biggest reason why we need the OPPO A55. Carrying an AI camera that can produce photos up to 50MP resolution, with an aperture of f/1.8, the A55 camera will satisfy almost all cellphone users. Both those who are good at taking pictures, and those who are just learning mobile photography.
Accompanied by 2 other lenses, namely a 2MP camera lens for macro needs and 2MP for depth of field needs, we can create varied photos in every condition. Even with the help of filters and AI functions embedded in it, we can be creative to produce qualified photos at night.
For the front camera, OPPO A55 prepares a 16MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Capable of capturing good selfies, complete with video recording capabilities up to 1080p 30fps. But it must be set first, because the default is at 720p 30fps.
While for the rear camera, the video recording capability is at 1080p 30fps and has been set to this default position.
Conclusion
OPPO A55 is here to be a solution for those who want a new cellphone at a low price, either during Eid or Ramadan this year. With full Google support, we can use it as a tool for worship through appropriate applications. As a bonus, we can use this phone as the main tool to capture exciting moments, such as photographing breaking the fast together in any low-light conditions.
