Along with the launch of the realme GT 2 Pro, realme also introduced a product for the lower class, namely the latest narzo series, the realme narzo 50. Targeting young people who like to play games, this entry-level cellphone is equipped with a capable chipset, stylish design, more than just a camera and a screen that is pleasing to the eye.
We suspect that the name realme narzo 50 is taken from the resolution of the flagship class camera of realme carried by this cellphone. But it may not be connected at all. But what is certain is that realme claims that the camera system on this cellphone is the same system as that used in the GT 2 series. At least in the sensor section.
However, it’s not just the camera that caught our attention. With the price tag attached to it, this phone offers capable gaming performance with the support of a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

realme narzo 50 Reviews
Design
Not too many changes from the design of the narzo and other previous realme products, the realme narzo 50 is made with a concept that maintains its slimness even though it is said to have a large battery capacity. This will make it easier for users to interact with the cellphone’s touchscreen, especially using one hand.
However, there are still differences that make this product unique. On the back cover, the realme narzo 50 carries a coloring and texture called kevlar speed design. Where the middle part of the back of this smartphone is given an accent similar to the texture of carbon fiber, or carbon fiber. Reminds us of the custom design of street racing cars.
This texture is then coated with transparent glossy plastic. Smooth, but feels not slippery and even tends to be rough, so it provides grip when used even though our hands are sweaty and wet.
narzo 50 also carries a security feature in the form of a fingerprint sensor that is placed together with the power button. Located on the right side of the phone, making it easy to access and provides a fast response when used.
Screen
realme narzo 50 carries a 6.6-inch screen with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels or falls into the FHD + category. Carrying an IPS LCD type panel, the display presented feels quite satisfying with a brightness of 480 nits and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%, dominating the front of this smartphone.
By inserting a camera in a single punch hole design, the screen feels wider and accommodating to all kinds of needs. Including for gaming or watching videos and streaming.
But in fact, the technology on this cellphone screen is what makes it worth considering. In its class, the narzo 50 is capable of providing at least 6 screen refresh rate options according to needs, to provide the system with options for saving battery.
We remember, this feature was also brought by the realme 9 series. Where this smartphone screen opens up all possible refresh rates, from 30 Hz, 45 Hz, 48 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 120 Hz. From the standard for watching media on social media timelines, shows equivalent to analog TV, playing games, to the convenience of swiping through social media timeline screens.
Software
realme narzo 50 comes with realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. Just a reminder, this UI offers a simple appearance and all things that are efficient. Starting from the use of space to icons that can be personalized. But interestingly, by default this realme UI still offers an app tray, that’s a space where all installed apps will gather, not just on the home screen as usual.
A number of important and useful features are presented by this realme UI 2.0. Including one for gaming needs called Games (formerly called Game Space). Also for the first time the Virtual RAM (DRE) feature is present on the narzo device. Allows us to borrow the amount of internal memory to be used as temporary RAM when needed.
Interestingly, this feature was once said not to be present in variants with small internal memory or below 128GB. Like the realme 8i that we reviewed previously. When we reviewed it, the realme narzo 50 4/64GB variant on the editorial desk did not have this feature.
But the good news is, based on the information we received, realme will present this feature in the over the air software update aka OTA for the 4/64GB variant, with additional RAM support of up to 3GB. Interesting to wait for.
Hardware Performance
In terms of performance, the narzo 50 seems to be able to provide maximum performance in the price class it occupies. To make this happen, realme has embedded a chipset made by Mediatek, namely the Helio G96. A chipset that is often used by cellphones that are pursuing performance in their time, especially in mid-late 2021.
This chipset carries an 8-core processor with a big.LITTLE 2 vs 6 configuration. Where 2 cores for performance consist of 2 cortex A76 2.05GHz cores and 6 efficiency cores consist of 6 cortex A55 2GHz cores. On paper, it is promising, although in terms of the performance core type, it is indeed 2 generations behind most 5G chipsets that are present this year. A decision that must be taken and is very understandable, especially when faced with the price of the device.
This chipset also carries a proven GPU, namely the Mali-G57 MC2. And is the only one in this class that carries support for screen refresh rates of up to 120 Hz.
The variant we reviewed carries 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of ROM or internal memory. It should be capable, because this phone also carries an additional memory slot that is separate from the 2 available SIM Card slots.
Antutu value that is close to 300 thousand, or ranging from 260 thousand and above can be said to be capable. Both for the price offered, and for its real needs. So you can imagine for yourself how this phone can provide satisfaction in terms of performance.
Battery
The narzo 50 is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. With the efficiency offered by the software aka realme UI 2.0, this capacity is sufficient to support the phone’s performance for two days without having to recharge it.
However, when we need efficient recharging, this smartphone also provides their in-house fast charging technology, namely Dart Charge. With a maximum power of 33W.
With this 33W Dart Charge, we can charge the phone from zero to 100% in just 70 minutes. Because it is a technology in a closed ecosystem, realme has guaranteed the safety of this charging, both in hardware and software.
Camera
We come to the part that seems to give a positive impression of the narzo 50 phone, the camera! This smartphone carries a 3-camera configuration, consisting of a 50MP main camera with a large aperture of f/1.8, which will be able to absorb more light and with a maximum magnification of 4x, it will be ready to take pictures from a distance without losing quality.
Next is the Macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4. Used to take pictures from a close distance of up to 4cm. And finally there is a B&W camera with an aperture of f/2.8 for the needs of giving artistic effects typical of street photos that are usually carried by realme phones.
On the software side, the narzo 50 camera also provides a number of smart features assisted by AI, such as Color Portrait, Dynamic Bokeh, and a number of additional effects in the portrait mode section. It will be very familiar to realme users of course.
Then there is a 50MP photo capture mode. Capturing images with the maximum resolution that can be achieved, producing a photo with high density and detail. So it is safe when it has to be cropped because it does not reduce the quality of the cropped photo much.
In terms of video recording, this main camera only provides 2 resolution options, namely 1080p (FHD) and 720p (HD), each of which can record at a frame rate of 30 fps. Except, if we access slo-mo mode, then we can achieve a video framerate of 120fps with playback at 30fps.
What about the front camera? The front camera of the narzo 50 is a single 16MP camera with an aperture of f/2.1 and is capable of recording video in 1080p resolution at 30fps.

Conclusion
narzo 50 is a young person’s cellphone that prioritizes performance, especially for playing games smoothly, but also while learning to create content on social media. Both the hardware performance and the camera provided are qualified and easy to learn even for those who have just had an Android smartphone.
