OPPO A95 Reviews
Stylish Design with OPPO Glow
OPPO A95 comes with a design like OPPO’s more premium series, such as OPPO Reno. Made thin, with a metallic edge design that forms an attractive curve. While the coloring of the back cover is made to resemble the OPPO Reno6 design, which is named OPPO Glow Design.
Just a reminder, OPPO Reno 5 and 6 come with introducing a design approach and back cover coloring called Reno Glow. Well, for the first time, OPPO A95 brings a similar design called OPPO Glow. You can read the differences between these two designs in a separate article.
The point is, with OPPO Glow, manufacturers can protect the back cover of the A95 cellphone with a number of color coating techniques by adding an anti-scratch layer that is not available in Reno Glow. In addition to protecting against fingerprints, this technique allows the phone to be protected from damage due to continuous friction without the need for protection from glass materials that we usually find on other phones.
OPPO itself has explained that the back cover of this phone has gone through a series of extreme tests such as being scratched with steel wire, even being burned with a fire at a temperature of 500 degrees Celsius for 60 minutes non-stop. Well, the latter is related to battery safety. We will discuss it there.
The interesting thing about the OPPO A series is that it still has ports that you might need. One of them is the 3.5 mm audio port, which is placed at the bottom, next to the USB type C jack and speaker grill.
Furthermore, we can praise the overall design of this phone which provides a comfortable edge shape for the base of the thumb, then the border between the edge of the screen and the part of the phone’s bones which is made in such a way that it is comfortable when browsing for a long time on the touch screen of this phone.
As a bonus, this phone is also ready for use in the rainy season. Able to repel rainwater, at least it will not be damaged by rain because it has pocketed IPX4 certification. Looks beautiful, but also resistant to scratches and splashes of water.
6.43 Inch AMOLED Screen
Finding an AMOLED screen on the OPPO A Series is unique. Because this type of screen is only carried by several premium A series such as the A7x and A9x. So this is also an advantage for those who need a product with a “Reno feel” but the price can be lower.
The 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a punch hole design to place the front camera lens fills almost the entire front surface of the phone. Or covers 84.4% of the front area. It’s nice to look at because it displays contrasting colors, and looks more alive than other screen panels.
But maybe you should be careful, because what is displayed on this phone screen has the potential to be better than what is seen on other phones. This might be worth keeping in mind when you are editing images before uploading them to social media. Not a bad thing, of course.
ColorOS 11.1
Although you hear that OPPO’s flagship products have entered Android 12 via ColorOS 12, and several others have entered the beta tester stage, in reality ColorOS 11.1 is currently the latest UI officially released by OPPO for non-flagship products. And this is one of the advantages of OPPO A95, because with the hardware it carries, the design and screen, the chipset and the promising battery, the presence of ColorOS 11.1 will maximize the hardware’s capabilities to a better point.
From the display side, for example, ColorOS 11.1 is able to provide users with the option to appear simple, only displaying the home screen and placing all installed applications there, or using a more classic appearance by separating applications on a different page. This means that the appearance of this cellphone can be personalized according to the user’s tendencies.
Both young people who want to appear trendy or parents who don’t want to be complicated when using a cellphone, ColorOS on OPPO A95 will accommodate both.
As usual, when we discuss ColorOS, we will not be separated from a number of built-in applications that make our mobile life easier. For example, Game Space which will improve the gaming experience, SOLoop as a lightweight video editor that can be used to edit videos quickly and hassle-free, as well as other applications related to different needs.
My OPPO for example, with this feature you can easily make complaints if something happens to your cellphone, diagnose damage, or connect with OPPO customer service wherever you are. And, what else? RAM Expansion. Wait, we’ll discuss it in the next chapter.
RAM Expansion and NFC
On paper, the OPPO A95 carries 8GB of RAM. That’s enough for a number of activities, including working on college questions while listening to music for example. Or gaming and other multitasking needs.
But the OPPO A95 also provides a RAM Expansion feature. A technology that allows the amount of RAM memory on a cellphone to increase by borrowing from internal memory (ROM) if needed.
The amount of memory that can be borrowed from ROM ranges from 2 to 5 GB. So in total you can feel the performance of a cellphone that has 10, 11 to 13 GB of RAM. We recommend that you use this additional RAM size when you want to play games more smoothly, with the note that the cellphone’s internal memory is not full or still has half of its 128 GB capacity left.
Now next there is the NFC feature aka near field communication. The presence of this feature differentiates OPPO A95 Indonesia from the global version or the market version of other countries.
An advantage for those of you who need this feature either for electronic payments or other connection needs with supporting devices.
Snapdragon 662 Chipset with Optimization
When you hear Snapdragon 662, you might remember a number of 3 million products that were present in late 2020 and early 2021. Like the use of the chipset in the OPPO Reno6 which still uses the same Generation chipset as the previous Reno, OPPO claims this strategy was carried out because they have been able to optimize the chipset that they have known for a long time.
As a result, the Reno6 shows significantly improved performance, including better power efficiency. So does that happen in the OPPO A95 with Snapdragon 662? From what we have felt in the last few weeks, we have found increased performance in all lines. Not only in terms of processor performance acceleration, but also to other parts such as battery efficiency, cameras and so on.
Just to remind you, Snapdragon 662 is a Qualcomm chipset made for the mid-range smartphone market. In the price range approaching 3 to 4 million. Carrying an 8-core CPU consisting of 4 Kryo 260 GOLD 2.0 GHz cores and 4 Kryo 260 SILVER 1.8 GHz cores. Balanced between cores for heavy and light needs.
This chipset also carries the Adreno 610 GPU which Qualcomm calls a GPU that is adequate for a premium cellphone. Not a flagship, but premium. This means it is in the middle class, be it middle to lower or middle to upper. It depends on how the default software or UI of the cellphone will maximize both the CPU and GPU it carries. And on this side OPPO has an advantage because it has known this chipset for a long time.
Large Battery with Safe Fast Charging
Being able to embed a 5000 mAh battery into a slim phone like the OPPO A95 is the first positive thing we can get from this battery side. With optimizations carried out both on the hardware and software side, the battery life can be said to be satisfactory. When testing, this phone can last 2 days on a single charge, with fairly heavy camera, internet and benchmark usage.
Interestingly, OPPO also brings 33W fast charging technology that can charge the battery up to 54% in 30 minutes. But don’t worry about overheating. Because OPPO has brought a number of security features to the battery, so we can charge the phone while sleeping.
As discussed in the design section above, OPPO has conducted an extreme durability test by burning the inside of the back cover with a fire at a temperature of 500 degrees Celsius, for 60 minutes non-stop. The back cover must not burn in this test. With the intention that when there is a battery explosion, the back cover of this phone does not become fuel to spread fire around the house and worsen the situation.
OPPO has brought the Battery Guard or AI Night Charge feature. Where the system will read the user’s sleeping habits, so it will stop the charging process at 80% when charging at bedtime. Then it will charge the remaining 20% one hour before the user’s usual wake-up time.
Then there is also Charging Heat Control. Will provide extra security when charging while sleeping and also extend battery life. Combining hardware and software, this feature will recognize the increase in temperature that occurs in the chamber.
Using software, this feature will maintain the temperature in the cellphone chamber so that it is always at a safe and comfortable point so that it does not overheat. This is done by disabling applications that have the potential to create excess heat when charging while sleeping and so on.
Meanwhile, on the hardware side, the OPPO A95 uses a heat dissipation system in the form of a graphite sleeve design, which will be responsible for reducing excess heat from inside the chamber.
A Camera Capable of Capturing Dramatic Moments
Unlike the Reno series which does bring many cutting-edge features on the camera side, it does not mean that the OPPO A95 camera is unable to satisfy our needs. On the contrary, we were a little surprised that the results of this cellphone camera were able to produce dramatic images, with a good level of detail and contrast.
There are three cameras that serve as the main image taker. Located on the back consisting of 1 48 MP camera, f / 1.7 then 2 2 MP f / 2.4 cameras which are responsible for macro and depth needs.
Then on the front there is a 16 MP camera with f / 2.4. Both the rear and front cameras are capable of producing videos with a frame rate of 30fps in 1080p size. Especially for the rear camera, it is also equipped with EIS which will maintain stability when recording videos.
When trying to take pictures, the AI works well. Recognizing the color of the sky and then slightly increasing the saturation and contrast so that the resulting image is a sky image that is pleasing to the eye and worthy of being on Instagram.
Likewise when used to photograph food and other objects, with striking HDR capabilities.
You can see the results in the following images. For the video results, we will update in a few moments through a separate article.

Conclusion
When OPPO held a Performance event to introduce the OPPO A95 to the market, we thought this phone would concentrate on hardware performance which is usually identical to gaming. In fact, this phone offers slick performance across the board in all lines. Power efficiency, noticeable battery life, capable camera, weather resistance in rain, and software support seem to be able to enhance the mobile phone experience, from the ordinary to the extreme needs.
