OPPO A16 Reviews
Current Thin Design
The price tag for this product makes it enter the entry phone group but slightly in the more luxurious category. Or in other words, it is approaching the mid-low class.
So it is natural that the appearance of this cellphone is not much different from a number of more expensive OPPO cellphones. Thin design even though we know that this cellphone carries a large capacity battery.
To test the comfort of this cellphone’s design, we often put the cellphone in the back pocket of our jeans and do our activities as usual. And we did not find any significant difficulty in moving or sitting for a long time.
Disclaimer: it is still not recommended to store this cellphone in the back pocket of your pants to avoid falling or being left on the sofa, as well as possible damage.
Unfortunately, the material of the back cover of this cellphone is relatively easy to get dirty due to fingerprints or sweaty hands. For that, you need to install the default silicone case so that you don’t have to clean the OPPO A16 back cover area often. At the same time, avoid scratches that may occur due to extreme use.
Although the OPPO A16 has received IPX4 waterproof certification, it does not mean you can use it while swimming. IPX4 means that you don’t need to worry when it rains, because minimal splashes of water or dew drops from your glass of iced sweet tea won’t damage your phone.
OPPO A16 has two color choices. For those who like bright colors, there is Space Silver, while Crystal Black will be the color of choice for those who like dark colors. Both offer the same glossy effect with attractive light glow.
The main camera is placed in the upper left corner of the back of the phone. Carrying three lenses and an LED flash in an elongated rectangular area. While the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side, along with the power button. Like phones that place fingerprint sensors in a similar position, the power button is made lower than the side of the phone.
Because the sensor is a physical sensor without significant obstacles, the response is also very fast. Imagine if this fingerprint sensor was then combined with face recognition.
This phone carries a complete Input Output hole. Namely USB Type C for data and power input, and a 3.5mm audio jack for use with your favorite wired headset. Both are located at the bottom of the phone.
Finally, the front of the phone is dominated by the screen as usual. This time on the A16, OPPO uses a dew drop screen design, aka super tiny bangs, to place the front camera lens, right under the earpiece gap which is made as thin as possible.
Wide Screen with Eye Care and ColorOS 11.1
Utilizing a 6.52-inch screen with an IPS panel, this phone presents a display in a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels or HD + with a typical brightness of up to 480 nits. This type of screen will display images and all UIs nicely, without looking too dark or too bright. The standard for entry-level to mid-low phones, right? There is nothing to criticize on this side.
When used for gaming and watching, however, it does not burden the chipset’s work on the CPU, GPU or memory. And this is a reasonable path for the A16 to take.
Because it uses a dew drop design, there is a small part of the screen used by the camera that juts inward. Only a little and does not interfere with the display either when watching content in full screen, or playing games.
With a screen this wide, we can use the split screen feature better, utilizing part of the screen for different activities, such as answering customer messages while watching Youtube?
One of the advantages of the OPPO A16 is that this phone was released using the latest ColorOS, version 11.1. OPPO’s custom OS, which was once named the best performing Custom OS by one of the benchmark companies, has a number of neat built-in features.
On the screen or display side, we can take advantage of one of the ColorOS 11.1 features, namely AI Smart Backlighting, Sunlight Screen and Moonlight Screen. The three signature features of OPPO’s Eye-care display screen which function to reduce eye damage due to continuous changes in light or flickering, especially when used in various lighting conditions
For example, when reading and watching in the dimness of a room, it will certainly give a different effect from outdoor light during the day. Now with this feature we can adjust the brightness and color on the screen to be able to adjust so that our eyes will be more comfortable.
For the first ColorOS 11.1 users, maybe you will immediately feel how simple the display is presented, easy to understand and clean. Then next you will be able to appreciate the time more with a number of interesting features such as AI Startup Optimizer, System Booster, and daily monitoring.
The three features above will optimize the hardware to run longer, open quickly from the home screen, and track what applications are running in the background of the system.
Then there are also those that will increase the efficiency of our work. For example, translating photos using three fingers held for a while on the text to be translated. Also flexDrop which allows us to open applications in a small floating screen.
For those who also use this phone for gaming, you can take advantage of Game Space. Almost all the features on ColorOS 11.1 phones are in this gamespace, especially for bullet notifications. Makes it easier for us to read incoming messages while playing games, without interrupting the game.
Performance Maintained with Controlled Temperature
As a phone targeted at the entry class, the chipset carried by the OPPO A16 is quite powerful. Especially if we look at the combination of hardware carried, such as display resolution, camera and battery. Mediatek Helio G35 which carries a rather old-school CPU core Cortex A53, has a number of features related to improving gaming performance.
This chipset carries a CPU with 8 cores or Octa-core. Consisting of 4 Cortex A53 cores with a Clock Speed of 2.3GHz and 4 Cortex A53 cores with a clock speed of 1.8Ghz. Carrying a PowerVR GE8320 GPU with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM.
If 32GB of internal storage space is not enough for you, the A16 still provides additional Memory Card space up to 256GB. So there is always free space that you can use to store photo files of items for sale, video reviews of your products or serial drama videos to watch in your spare time.
This phone carries a large capacity battery of 5000 mAh. With standard 10W charging. Of course it will produce quite high heat, along with the chipset that is also ready to be boosted, so temperature control feels very much needed.
OPPO A16 has prepared 5 temperature sensors that are strategically placed in several parts of the phone. This sensor can then accurately sense the heat source, to then control the power intake, such as when charging the battery.
Reliable Triple Camera
One of the reasons why we recommend this phone for online trading activities is the reliable camera. Carrying three rear cameras and one front camera with satisfactory results, especially when used in a room with optimal lighting, this phone’s camera can show the details of the product you want.
We start with the main camera. This camera consists of three lenses, namely a 13 MP main camera, a 2MP bokeh camera (depth) and a 2MP macro camera. To produce the most appropriate images, you may need to get to know this phone’s camera first. Starting from the function of each lens, to the most appropriate brightness level, according to your needs.
Here are some sample photos that you can see. Both in the form of examples of products for sale, and photos of everyday scenery that we find around us. (Without editing color and contrast, only adjusting the size or resizing)
The results are good. For a cellphone in this price class, from OPPO, the colors displayed are closer to the original colors, without any attempt to increase saturation. But if you want a different color tone, there are a number of filters that can be used.
But even though it has ColorOS 11.1, the camera features of this cellphone are not as complete as the Reno product. Of course, because both are intended for different classes. And because Reno, as we explained in the OPPO Reno6 review yesterday, is a product that will display OPPO’s latest camera features.

Conclusion
For those of you who have felt the importance of efficiency and effectiveness in an Android phone, and want to try how good it is to use ColorOS, then the OPPO A16 is the most appropriate product for you to start with.
As a bonus, this phone brings the minimum gaming performance needed, as well as a reliable camera. Those who need the right device for selling online, for example, will be able to make the most of the OPPO A16. Using the camera as a tool to document the products we offer, and a dual channel 4G and WiFi connection that will accompany you at all times.
