OPPO A58 Reviews
Starting from the classy design appearance, tough internal specifications, to long-lasting battery performance. So, what is the real performance like? Check out the full OPPO A58 review below.
OPPO A58 Design
OPPO is known for its seriousness in designing smartphone devices, both premium and low-end, and the OPPO A58 is one of them.
When you first take this device out of its packaging box, the aesthetic impression immediately radiates from the outer body of the device.
The sleek and elegant body design with the selection of high-quality materials makes it feel luxurious in the hand.
Please note, OPPO A58 has a body dimension of 165.65×75.98×7.99 mm with a weight of around 192 grams. This smartphone has a Glowing Silk design that has a shiny and shining surface with a luxurious satin silk texture, especially for the Dazzling Green color option.
This design concept is inspired by the innovative OPPO Glow design model. The elegant curves feel right in your hand. Suitable for those of you who are energetic and active.
In addition to green, this device also comes in a black color option called Glowing Black and the OPPO A58 review unit we received was this elegant black one.
On the back, there is a unique area with an elongated circular structure with a slightly different texture and color from the overall body. Here, OPPO places a camera module in the form of two large circles and is decorated with the words “Innovative AI Camera”.
The OPPO logo itself is in the bottom right corner, with a silver base color that adds a luxurious impression.
Moving to the front, the device has a fairly large screen area. The concept is similar to the latest mid-end phones, which implement a hole-punch screen model in the top center to place the selfie camera.
This OPPO A Series phone has a fairly thin screen bezel on the left and right sides, but the bottom and top areas are still a bit thick. Even so, the appearance is still quite pleasing to the eye.
Interestingly, the OPPO A58 has been equipped with qualified durability and has passed lab tests with more than 100,000 quality tests. Consisting of 1 Meter Fixed-Angle Drop Tests, 150x Tumble Cycles Tests, 14,000x Micro-Drop Tests, 1,000x 25Kg Squeeze Tests, 500,000x Power Button Stress Tests, 20,000x USB Plug-In Stress Tests, Water-Spray Tests, Humidity Tests, Twist Tests, 65°C 95% RH 168H High Temperature and High Humidity Test.
The plus point, this device has also been supported with an IP rating for maximum durability, namely IP54. This certification shows that the OPPO A58 is resistant to dust and water splashes.
Still related to the design. OPPO also crammed a number of additional compartments on the body including the control panel. On the right side there is a volume button on the top side, while the bottom is the power/lockscreen button.
Interestingly, this power button also turns out to be a fingerprint sensor panel. Its position is very easy to reach with fingers, and this fingerprint sensor has a fairly good level of touch response in detecting user fingerprint data.
Shift to the left side. OPPO places the SIM tray in a slightly higher position. To open this compartment, you can use the ejector pin that is already available in the sales package.
Inside, you will find three trays available for operator SIM cards (2 slots) and another slot for an additional microSD memory card.
At the bottom of the body, there is a 3.5mm audio jack hole, microphone, USB-C port and speaker cone. Cool, OPPO A58 apparently supports stereo speakers with audio holes at the bottom and top.
OPPO A58 Screen
As mentioned earlier, the OPPO A58 has a fairly large screen area. Based on technical data, this device is equipped with a 6.72-inch display with FHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels).
Unfortunately, the screen technology used is still limited to LTPS LCD, not AMOLED like most smartphones today. Even so, the performance of the OPPO A58 screen is quite capable.
Armed with a brightness of up to 680 nits, the OPPO A58’s 20:9 ratio screen is capable of displaying super sharp and clear images and colors. The screen also supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Very comfortable for displaying streaming video content or when used for gaming.
Although it does not support a high screen refresh rate, the action of browsing applications and games and swiping menus on the OPPO A58 screen is already relatively smooth and fluid.
OPPO calls the A58 screen the Sunlight Display, which is still capable of displaying text, viewing photos and reading well even under direct sunlight.
Armed with the ColorOS 13.1 interface based on Android 13, the OPPO A58 also includes a number of screen optimizations that are certainly fun to explore. Starting from Dark Mode support, screen color mode settings, font size options, wallpaper settings, themes and so on.
The device’s screen also supports eye-friendly technology by cramming in Eye Comfort mode. As well as special certification related to HD quality video displays that will provide comfort when enjoying watching box office movies.
With the most updated OPPO interface, there are also many other superior features that come with a number of performance improvements. Among them is a device security system that provides a fingerprint sensor, Face Unlock, App Lock, Hide Apps and Private Safe.
OPPO A58 Camera
OPPO A58 is equipped with two cameras on the back. The configuration consists of a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 lens aperture and supports Autofocus. While the second camera is for bokeh with a power of 2M, and an 8MP front camera.
With these kinds of camera specifications and supported by artificial intelligence (AI)-based image processing technology, OPPO A58’s main camera shots are capable of producing fairly high-quality photos.
The photo results are able to display sharp images with fairly accurate details and clear colors. For an entry-level phone, the results of this phone’s shots are quite proud and can be shared directly to social media.
You can also use Portrait mode with the main camera or front camera with beautiful bokeh results. Or, you can also combine it with AI Portrait Retouching to get more natural and accurate skin tones and textures. It is also suitable for those who like selfies.
For those who like to document their vacation or traveling, OPPO A58 also supports video recording capabilities with a maximum resolution of FHD 1080p at 30fps. Quite capable and suitable for making reel videos or Instagram stories, including TikToker-style jogged videos.
OPPO A58 Performance
This sector is still one of the most important factors for consumers who want to buy a smartphone, and the OPPO A58 is able to accommodate it well.
First, from the engine side. Although using a chipset that is considered ‘old’, namely the MediaTek Helio G85, the performance of the OPPO A58 is still quite agile in running all functions and applications.
This is thanks to the octa-core processor consisting of 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 and combined with the Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
This device is also supported by memory with a fairly large capacity. On the device we tested, OPPO crammed 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Interestingly, the OPPO A58 supports the RAM Expansion feature with options up to 6GB. Through this feature, the OPPO A58 has up to 12GB of RAM.
Meanwhile, for storage space, it can also be added using a microSD card with a capacity of up to 1TB.
Overall, the hardware specifications carried by this device are capable of running multitasking functions optimally. In the OPPO A58 review further, we also tried playing a number of mobile games that are usually run on entry-level smartphones such as Mobile Legends, Free Fire, AoV, Call of Duty Mobile and several others.
There are no significant obstacles to its performance. Through standard settings, everything can be played smoothly. For the game settings themselves, on average, they can be set to the maximum level, aka right-aligned, for example in Mobile Legends and Free Fire.
For Call of Duty Mobile, the graphics settings that can be set are only up to the Medium option and the Frame Rate is at High. But for the overall game play, it is still exciting and has minimal lag.
The issue of overheating when playing games doesn’t seem to be too noticeable on the OPPO A58. Throughout the OPPO A58 review, the device’s condition does tend to experience increased heat when playing games for a long duration. However, in our opinion, this device is still relatively normal.
However, it is better to adjust the time for playing games, don’t overdo it or go all out all day long.
For those who are still curious about the performance of this smartphone, you can also see the benchmark results using several applications.
Oh yes, one more thing that is no less important, OPPO A58 is equipped with NFC. So, for Ofans who usually use e-money cards for transactions on KRL, MRT, Transjakarta or pay for tolls, you can use this technology to check e-money and top up balances.
OPPO A58 Battery
Battery life is essential to your everyday smartphone experience, and the OPPO A58 delivers on that. With a 5000mAh battery, you can use this phone all day long without worrying about running out of power.
Based on technical data from testing in the OPPO lab, this battery is capable of providing up to 32 hours of communication time and 16 hours of video watching.
To prove it, in the OPPO A58 Review we also conducted a series of tests using a battery benchmark application.
In the PCMark for Android Work 3.0 test with battery life parameters at 50% brightness and 100% battery level, this cellphone managed to achieve a score of 15 hours and 38 minutes.
According to AccuBattery records, this device has a Screen on time of 7 hours and 14 minutes from 100% to 10% battery condition when used for daily activities.
The plus point is, the OPPO A58 is supported by the 33W SUPERVOOC fast charging feature which allows you to charge the battery quickly, so you can get back to using your phone in no time.
With the 33W SUPERVOOC feature, charging the OPPO A58 battery from 0% to 52% only takes about 30 minutes. In this OPPO A58 review, we tested charging from 10% to 100% in only about 70 minutes.
Conclusion
The OPPO A58 is an attractive choice for those of you looking for a smartphone with a combination of charming design, an extraordinary screen, powerful performance, superior photography capabilities, and strong battery life.
With these advanced features, this phone is ready to be your loyal companion in carrying out fast and connected daily activities. So, if you are looking for a smartphone that meets all your needs, the OPPO A58 is a choice worth considering.
