OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G Reviews

Here is our review. The price is relatively high. But still lower than previous OPPO flagship phones. So you could say this is a flagship-style Reno with a number of features that are usually present in high-end phones. Let’s get straight to it.

New Design

The design approach of the Reno10 series has changed significantly. The camera layout is now made in a capsule-like shape. The upper half contains the camera lens and flash light, and the lower half contains the telephoto camera lens with a periscope design. We can find this type of lens on the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom, Find X2 Pro, and Find X6 Pro.

If you pay attention, the camera capsule part is different from the back cover around it. This is because the material around the camera is aluminum which is resistant to impact and corrosion. So it is safe for the rear camera of the phone.

While on the other side, the back cover is coated with Gorilla Glass 5. The process still uses the OPPO Glow process. So even though it feels slippery, this part is not easy to leave fingerprints, is scratch-resistant and also shows a shiny glitter blend.

OPPO includes an additional silicon cover that has the same color as the phone’s back cover. It’s just more matte and hard. It’s not soft like a regular silicon case. It provides more protection and makes the phone more comfortable to hold, without feeling guilty.

This phone chooses to use a curved screen design, aka a 3D curved screen. So the right and left edges will feel half glass, half bezel. In terms of appearance, it will look luxurious and pleasant. Especially if we optimize the edges of this screen to present moving light for notifications.

Otherwise, there is no audio port on this phone. There is only a USB C port accompanied by a SIM card slot and a speaker at the bottom of the phone.

3D CURVED Screen with DragonTrail

Unlike the protective glass on the Back Cover, the screen of the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G is protected by protective glass from another manufacturer, namely Dragonrail Star 2. This protective glass is known to have 20% better strength than Gorilla Glass 5, which is applied to the back cover.

It makes sense why this is done considering that there is a part of the screen that juts out to the edge of the phone. This requires extra protection to reduce the adverse effects when there is a collision on the edge of the phone.

Because of this curved screen design, the bezel is not too much present, aka very thin. The screen with a span of 6.74 inches is an AMOLED screen that emits a resolution of 2772 x 1240 pixels with an aspect of 20.1: 9 and a contrast of 2 million to 1.

A number of premium display features are present here. These include HDR 10+, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

ColorOS 13.1

OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G brings the latest UI, namely ColorOS 13.1. Interesting because many new features are also introduced on the Reno phone, in particular. Such as Infrared Remote Control. Also multi-screen Connect which makes the phone directly connected to the PC, Smart AoD also Auto pixelate. For those who like to capture the chat screen, the system will immediately pixelate or blur the parts that are considered sensitive.

Such as profile photos, account numbers and so on. And there are still many other features that we use every day that make our lives easier.

OPPO’s Best Cooling Flagship Chipset

This time, OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G carries a chipset made by Qualcomm, namely Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It has a 4nm fabrication so that it has a power efficiency of up to 30%. This chipset carries an 8-core CPU which we will discuss in the next paragraph, as well as a 5G modem with an independent anti-jamming antenna, powered by 12 GB of RAM which can improve the quality of multitasking up to 44 applications open at the same time.

Regarding the CPU, there is a 3-cluster ARM configuration. The highest cluster consists of 1 Cortex-X2 processor core with a speed of 3 GHz, then the next cluster consists of 3 Cortex-A710 cores with a speed of 2.75 GHz and the last cluster or efficiency cluster consists of 4 Cortex-A510 cores with a soeed of 2 GHz. On paper it is very promising.

But, with such CPU specs, the heat generated will be quite high. For that, OPPO has prepared the best cooling technique in the Reno series, in the form of ultra-conductive graphite and a surface cooler expanded to 92% larger than the previous reno.

This will ensure the phone stays cool under heavy processing loads such as gaming, video recording and keeps the overall performance stable.

Super Fast Battery and Charging

SUPERVOOC technology is again in the spotlight when we talk about batteries, battery life and recharging. Because this time OPPO includes SUPERVOOC technology that can deliver power up to 100W.

Carrying a 4700 mAh dual cell battery, then with a power of 100W, the phone battery can be charged from 1% to 50% in just 9 minutes 30 seconds. Fast but OPPO has ensured that this is safe. Because OPPO uses Ultra-low Temperature Charging Mode, aka charging mode with ultra low temperatures so that there is no overheating when charging. Then SUPERVOOC has a Power Management chip that allows the introduction of charging, discharging, decoding, reset, battery protection and power outage functions with just one chip.

With the addition of the Battery Health Engine, the phone’s battery is guaranteed to remain healthy for 4 years of use. As long as you only charge using the default adapter and cable or those recommended by OPPO.

Flagship Camera with Marisilicon X Chip and Periscope Lens

Since we first received this review product, we have taken hundreds of photos and rarely any of them disappoint. Especially when we use the Portrait feature in 3X magnification aka teleportrait or when used as the main gear to cover an event.

Finally, the periscope lens is back in the OPPO Reno Series. The technique of stacking lenses at a 90º angle allows for more stable shooting, reaching further distances, without making the phone thick.

The phone’s camera uses a Sony IMX890 sensor. With a resolution of 50MP and OIS for better low-light shooting.

Then there is the telephoto camera. With a 64MP lens capable of achieving optical image magnification up to 3x. and finally there is an 8MP ultrawide camera as a complement.

Conclusion

The price is indeed quite high for a Reno phone. But considering all the features it brings, the OPPO Reno10 Pro Plus is the best alternative when you are not interested in spending more money on a flagship phone like the Find X Series.

With a premium screen as the main window, a comfortable back cover design in the hand, a flagship-class chipset with optimal cooling and a promising telephoto camera, there is no reason why we should not use it as a daily driver when you get access to this phone.
