Anti-Fingerprint Back Cover Material Design
Reno Glow technology used as the main coloring of OPPO Reno phones is back in OPPO Reno6. An interesting approach where the back cover will look shiny but does not require a glass-like layer on the phone.
Especially on the OPPO Reno6, we can easily appreciate the appearance of the phone’s back cover which is able to provide friction but still looks shiny and is believed to be scratch-resistant. What else is lacking, right? Owners of sweaty hands will immediately feel the comfort of this phone without using a case at all.
There are two color choices provided by OPPO Indonesia, namely Aurora which you see in this review and also Stellar black which is no less interesting. This Aurora color will give an orange effect when hit by light and will move according to the direction of the light.
While stellar black is not really black, because when hit by light it will give a flashy dark blue color. Whatever the choice, you will be treated to a neat play of colors.
There is not much to discuss on this back cover section. Apart from the color and material, of course, and also the camera section in the upper left corner. It looks like it only has 3 camera circles, but it turns out there are 4 cameras there plus an LED flash when really needed.
Moving to the front, the Reno6 again presents a screen with a single punch hole design. Leaving one small hole for the camera in the upper left corner of the screen, so it doesn’t interfere too much with our activities while using the phone. This screen dominates 91.7% of the surface of the phone. So can you imagine how wide it is?
For buttons and ports, the Reno series is known to be the most complete. In addition to the volume and power buttons which are placed on opposite sides, it also provides a 3.5mm audio port and a USB Type C port. Providing wider possibilities to connect to other devices and enjoy your favorite audio files using your favorite earphones in your collection.
AMOLED Screen with High Refresh Rate
OPPO Reno6 carries a screen in a 6.4-inch span, covering 91.7% of the surface of the phone. You can imagine that this phone has a very thin bezel, with a camera section that does not interfere with the viewing area in a single punch hole design.
You already know, right, the advantages of an AMOLED screen? The colors produced will look striking and natural. Because the black level is truly black. If on the IPS panel the black color is produced from a mixture of colors, then on AMOLED the black color is produced by a group of LED lights that are deliberately not activated. Can you imagine how natural it is?
Utilizing this type of panel, Reno6 also provides an in-display fingerprint sensor feature. Accompanying the locking feature using a password and Face Detection, the way to unlock the screen using the sensor above the screen can also be done well without any problems that can be reported. Especially if we combine these 3 ways to unlock the screen so that it will provide a more comfortable screen unlocking experience.
This cellphone screen also supports a 90Hz refresh rate. It is the standard refresh rate for mid-range and upper-class cellphone screens, it will present animation movements on the menu screen more smoothly. Also useful when we play games that require a high screen refresh rate.
Responsiveness is not a problem, because the OPPO Reno6 AMOLED screen also has a Touch Sampling response of up to 180Hz. So that our fingers can be more easily registered by the system, when playing games, this feature can reduce the possibility of losing due to buttons that do not respond properly.
This cellphone screen has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels in a 20: 9 ratio. Comfortable for watching big screen movies through your subscription streaming service. Even for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, this cellphone screen has received HD streaming certification.
The Latest ColorOS is Rich in Features
Recently, OPPO’s ColorOS was awarded as the best performing Custom UI according to Benchmark Master Lu. Superior to a number of custom UIs belonging to other cellphone brands. And as we always discuss in every OPPO review, their UI has indeed experienced significant developments in each version.
Now, OPPO Reno6 brings the latest version of ColorOS for now, namely ColorOS 11.1. Based on Android 11. All the features brought by ColorOS 11.1 are already on this phone, including the RAM expansion feature which was just introduced in early 2021. This feature will improve phone performance by borrowing memory from ROM to be used as temporary RAM.
In addition, a number of features related to the comfort of staring at the screen for a long time are still present on OPPO Reno6. Reducing negative side effects on the user’s eyes which are mostly caused by users in changing light conditions.
Interestingly, this phone also embeds smart technology related to UI, AI and front camera. Namely Air Gesture where we can pick up the phone without touching the screen, Adaptive sleep which is the user’s eye detector, so that the screen will remain on when we are reading or watching for example, and finally Anti-Peeping, which will detect if someone else is peeking at your cellphone screen.
Old features that are always present on OPPO Reno series phones, as well as OPPO phones with ColorOS still color this phone. For example Game Space, SoLoop, O Relax and Music Party. Each will accompany you to play games, create videos for your social media, help you relax according to your preferences and share music with other OPPO devices.
Proven Chipset in the Middle Class
One of the factors that will connect us to the previous Reno series phones is on the side of the use of SoC aka Chipset. Reno6 again uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. The same chipset used in the OPPO Reno5 4G.
But OPPO has its own answer as to why they are still using this chipset. Apart from of course that this chipset has been proven to be tough both in previous OPPO Reno products and in other cellphone products that have been launched in Indonesia.
OPPO admits that their R&D team continues to develop to improve the capabilities of the SoC used. Integrating all the features in the chipset to be optimized with OPPO’s built-in features and ColorOS 11. So even though the type of chipset may be the same, the performance will feel different.
Especially for features that are directly related to everyday cellphone use. This is what makes the Reno6 feel smoother in opening heavy applications, and the presence of the new Hyperboost feature is one of the most obvious proofs.
In terms of technical specifications, of course there is nothing different. That this is an SoC that carries an 8-core CPU. Consisting of 2 Kryo 465 Gold cores with a speed of 2.3GHzz and 6 Kryo 465 silver cores with a speed of 1.8GHz. Because it goes through an 8nm fabrication process, there are more parts in this SoC, including for better imaging and security needs.
It should be noted that this SoC also carries a mid-to-high class GPU, the Adreno 618. Supports the latest game APIs with 75% better performance than the previous Adreno series, as well as HDR display support.
There is nothing wrong with this SoC. Even with the optimizations made by OPPO and ColorOS 11, the power usage on the Reno6 feels efficient.
Coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage of the UFS 2.1 type, as well as a Multi-cooling system that combines design and selection of heat-absorbing materials, in terms of performance, this phone can be said to be capable for a mid-range to high-end phone.
Large Battery with VOOC Flash Charge
The OPPO Reno6 is made very thin and light for a phone with high camera and performance capabilities in its class. But who would have thought, with such a thin size, this phone also carries a battery with a fairly large capacity.
As a VOOC safety standard, this phone carries a 4310 mAh battery. With a super fast charging capability of 50W, this phone can be fully charged from zero in just 45 minutes.
Like other phones with VOOC Flash Charge, this phone is safe from the possibility of short, or overheating, as long as the cable and charger adapter used are the default cable and adapter or those that match the phone’s specifications.
This fast charging is also one of the attractions, if you need this device as a phone for gaming while doing activities at home. Just take a 5-minute break while charging, such as taking snacks and soft drinks from the kitchen and then returning to the room, your phone can be used again for the next 3 hours.
Full AI Featured Camera
As an OPPO flagship user, I myself am a little jealous of the camera features that are already embedded in this Reno6 cellphone. More features for taking pictures and shooting videos, to produce interesting content on our social networks.
Indeed, it is already a descendant of the Reno series, the camera is a white canvas for OPPO to be creative in creating unique features in the imaging field. Utilizing the ISP chip on the SoC that is carried, optimizing it with the AI chip, then creating a slick interface via ColorOS and a new feature was born in the form of the Bokeh Flare cinematic video effect.
But honestly, it’s not just the bokeh flare portrait feature that is a favorite on this cellphone. But before that, as usual, we will see the camera configuration carried by this cellphone, both on the back as the main camera, and on the front as a selfie camera.
We start from the back. Here OPPO brings 4 camera lenses protected by a rectangular area. When the phone is standing and facing back, we can see an 8MP Superwide camera at the very top. Carrying Aperture f / 2.2 with the ability to capture images at an angle of 119 degrees.
Then on the right side, close to the LED flash, is a 2MP Mono F / 2.4 camera. Usually used to detect the distance between the foreground and the background.
Down below, aka the second large lens from the top, there is a 64MP main lens, which is a 6P omnivision lens with an aperture of f / 1.7. Looking at the aperture, this camera can be relied on to produce good images in low lighting conditions.
Then the bottom camera, is a 2MP macro camera with an aperture of f / 2.4 allows us to photograph objects at close range up to 4cm.
While on the front, there is a 44MP selfie camera with an aperture of f / 2.4. Both the rear and front cameras can record videos with EIS-based ultra steady mode.
For resolution, the front camera can only record in 1080p and 720p at 60fps. While the rear camera can record up to 4K resolution at 30fps.
In addition to the bokeh flare effect on videos and photos, the OPPO Reno6 cellphone camera also maintains the AI Color Portrait feature which will separate the object color from the background color, then there is AI Highlight which will help you produce photos/videos in various lighting scenarios without reducing quality.
Features such as Flash Snapshot will also reduce shooting failures on the first try. Allows us to take pictures quickly, or capture spontaneous moments that happen quickly even better.
We will explain the features on this camera in another article. And get ready, if you already have an OPPO Reno6, we will even give you easy tips to produce special photos with just this phone.

Conclusion
OPPO’s efforts to improve the capabilities of the SoC it carries, so that it can be better than the experience felt on previous products have proven successful. This phone with fairly complete camera capabilities allows its users to create interesting photos and videos, even with uniform coloring through AI Palettes, like the contents of Indonesian celebrity Instagrams.
But besides the camera features that make your life easier, this phone also offers proven performance, as well as all the smart features needed for your daily life. Such as NFC and super fast charging.
