TECNO Spark 7 Reviews
TECNO Spark 7 Design
Cool. That’s the first impression when seeing the body of the TECNO Spark 7 that we received for testing. Not an ‘endorsement’, okay. But this is a pure assessment when first removing the TECNO Spark 7 from its packaging box.
Different from most entry-level phones that present a standard and mediocre design concept. The TECNO Spark 7 has a design that we think is quite elegant.
On the back, this phone features a unique cover model with the presence of thick line shading like sunlight.
The thick line pattern has a darker color, and will be clearly visible when exposed to light from a certain angle.
Not only that, this back cover also has a rough texture, with a structure like the fingerprint pattern on human hands.
This certainly makes its appearance more premium, as well as comfortable to hold in the hand.
In addition, the back cover of this phone is also decorated with a large TECNO SPARK logo arranged vertically, in line with the camera module.
Still on the back, the TECNO Spark 7 includes a round fingerprint sensor panel that is claimed to have a high level of responsiveness in detecting user fingerprint data.
For other compartments, there is a SIM card slot which is positioned at top left side. Inside there are three SIM trays, two of which are for SIM cards and one microSD.
On the right side of the body, there are volume and power/lock screen buttons. While at the bottom there is a speaker cone, micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
Dot Notch Screen
Moving to the front. TECNO Spark 7 still adopts the typical design character of entry-level cellphone screens that are currently trending, namely Dot Notch aka waterdrop-shaped bangs.
Based on technical data, the LCD screen of this cellphone has a diagonal of 6.52 inches and supports super high resolution for the size of a beginner cellphone, namely HD + (720 & # 215; 1600 pixels).
The screen itself carries a 60Hz refresh rate, quite standard, but is capable of displaying sharp and clear visualizations.
The color reproduction and contrast are also fairly good, with a brightness level that remains good even when used outdoors. Suitable for those who like to watch streaming videos or play mobile games.
Interestingly, with the support of the typical TECNO HiOS v7.60 interface based on Android 11, the UI display can be personalized according to your needs.
In fact, this cellphone screen also supports the Eye Care feature and dark mode for the display theme.
There is no information whether the screen of this device is coated with special scratch-resistant glass, but what is certain is that the TECNO Spark 7 sales package has provided an additional screen guard to simply protect the screen from scratches.
Regarding touch response, it seems there is no need to doubt it. The reason is, the screen of this phone is still able to detect touch well and smoothly.
Performance
Unlike the TECNO Spark 7 NFC which uses the MediaTek Helio A25 chip, the TECNO Spark 7 Limited Special Box apparently uses the Unisoc SC9863A SoC.
Based on data from the Device Info HW application, the guts of this phone are built with two big.LITTLE clusters consisting of eight Cortex-A55 cores that have a maximum clock speed of 1.60Ghz. While for graphics, it relies on the PowerVR Rogue GE8322.
To support overall performance, this phone has 2GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. For those who like to store files and other important documents on their phones, there is still a microSD slot that can be used to expand storage space up to 128GB.
A combination of hardware like this for a million-dollar phone is arguably still quite capable. Moreover, the OS base used by TECNO Spark 7 is Android 11 (Go Edition) which is specifically designed for phones with low specifications.
Throughout the test, the process of opening and closing and running applications embedded in this phone still felt quite smooth. In some conditions, a slightly laggy process is often found, but in our opinion this is still within reasonable limits. It’s a cheap and cheerful phone.
What about game performance? It seems like don’t expect much to be able to run today’s favorite games, which on average already carry high graphics. But to play standard games like puzzles, it’s quite smooth.
Interestingly, TECNO has provided a special application and game store that is tailored to the character of the Spark 7 specifications. You can download various mini games in it, or you can also play some games on the online platform.
For those who are still curious about the performance of the TECNO Spark 7, here are the benchmark results using a number of favorite applications. With AnTuTu benchmark v9.2.9, this phone scored 73 thousand which is still quite good. A complete list of benchmark results can be seen in the following screenshot.
TECNO Spark 7 Camera
Similar to other TECNO Spark 7 Series, this phone also presents a vertical box-shaped camera module with a contemporary model. However, don’t be fooled by its shape.
At first glance, this phone looks like it has three cameras. In fact, there are only two cameras on the back. The circle resembling a camera sensor at the bottom is only a description of AI support.
On the right side of the camera, there is a Qad-LED flash with quite bright lighting power which is certainly very useful when you want to take photos in low-light locations.
For the camera configuration itself, the TECNO Spark 7 has a 16MP main camera and AI Lens with an unspecified resolution, because the sensor is most likely only a complement to detect photo objects to be more accurate.
As an entry-level cellphone that is not supported by qualified hardware specifications for photography, in our opinion the results of the TECNO Spark 7 camera shots are quite good with fairly sharp image details.
In conditions of locations with very abundant lighting, the color capture of each image object can be translated well by the camera sensor. It’s just that, for places that are a bit dim, it still feels less than optimal. But once again, in our opinion this is still quite reasonable and understandable.
For those who like selfies, this cellphone includes an 8MP front camera complete with support for beauty effects and a number of special filters. Other camera modes also provided by this phone include time-lapse, 1080p video, portrait and panorama.
TECNO Spark 7 Battery
In the Spark 7 Series line, TECNO makes a large battery capacity as the main advantage of the TECNO Spark 7. If its relatives only carry a 5000 mAh battery, in this phone TECNO has embedded a 6000 mAh power source.
Both on paper and in direct use, this phone’s battery has indeed proven to be very tough. Throughout the test, a single charge can last more than a month for standby conditions only. If used normally, either for browsing, watching streaming videos and calling, it can last up to more than two days.
For charging, the TECNO Spark 7 still relies on a charger with a micro USB connector. And this phone only supports standard charging technology, not equipped with truly special fast charging technology.
Conclusion
For those of you who have very limited funds and are not too focused on a particular brand, the TECNO Spark 7 seems to be a pretty interesting choice.
Its cool design, as well as having a large and long-lasting battery, are very important points to consider.
In terms of performance, camera capabilities and other features included, it still offers relatively reasonable performance for an entry-level phone.
